Dmitry Nevozhay As many reviews noted, this has strong Ruins of Beverast vibe. And as RoB is one of the best band in dark metal, this sounds very promising 😉

mourner "Mostly improvised..." that's what made my jaws drop. Such a distinct way to wrap the apocalyptic story into befitting music. Intense, emotive and flattening. And all this mostly improvised? Unbelieveable. Favorite track: There'll Be No Resting.

Ippocalyptica If I had 5000 characters to describe my true feelings about Alkymist’s Wreckage of the Raging World, I would wax poetic about its many merits, but given space constraints, I will keep my high praise succinct: this is the first band to emulate the sound and atmosphere of The Ruins of Beverast in all of the best ways. Stated differently, every fan of bold, hypnotic, and lengthy black metal compositions needs this in their collection, and now. Favorite track: Letting Dust Fall Gracefully.

Rest well, my ash-coloured angel. Let your wings begin to fold and your eyes begin to close. Let your head lay gently among the cooling embers Shake the cinders from your feathered shoulders, letting dust fall gracefully to the ground and settling like winter's first snow. Let your soot-covered down be your battle armour against the wreckage of the raging world until it may be soft once more. Do not be frightened by the sudden smolder that the once great world has left behind, trapping you in its blackened wake. Let sleep ease you into dazed dreamscapes, where you may roam the fallen earth alone and feed on the warmth of its molten core. Rest well, my ash-coloured angel. Let your body still and your heart beat slow

From her lips the sounds of death Rolling thunder rocks the earth, Future held within her hands Pours from her fingers, blood-soaked sands; Upon the highest peak she stands Angel or the devil's spawn? Windswept tresses red as flame No one knows from whence she came; Black clouds rumble in the distance Lightning flashes sear the sky, All the peace doves leave their nesting From this day there'll be no resting; Might this vision be a warning Sent to man to mend his ways? Still I wonder if he'll listen From our eyes more tears will glisten; Welcome the apocalyspe! Behold - the firey end is nigh, If man does not amend his ways He will have but to count the days.

about

Wreckage Of The Raging World. Alkymist's second offering takes place in a desolate world... Ruined by war and nuclear weapon, ruled by chaos. A thick layer of ash blocks the rays of the sun and everything under the sky burns.

''The three tracks on this, Alkymist's second EP, deal with the post-apocalyptic vision of nuclear war, culminating in There'll Be No Resting which, a little like Ebeneezer Scrooge in Dickens' A Christmas Carol, reveals that all has not yet come to pass and an angelic/demonic vision warns what may happen if the human race doesn't change it's ways. Heavy stuff, even if taken as an allegory for the impending environmental apocalypse rather than all-out war, but the music succesfully reflects the weight of the subject, a black/doom parable for the modern age. This, along with 2018's Spellcraft Ceremony are, for me, fast establishing Alkymist as one of the great underrated outfits in both black and doom metal.''
